Today, let us pause, share a gentle cup of tea, and reflect together on that timeless question: what is the meaning of our life, and why are we here?
Yes, there is a reason why we are here, why we are all here. We carry a purpose in this life, a quiet calling to fulfill, and it may be more beautiful and more meaningful than some dare to imagine. I was somehow faced with the question of the meaning of my life because of chronic health issues, as I have written in my older blog posts. Living in a society where most people judge others only by their professional achievements, my health issues led to one failure after another, and too often I was judged by others, and with every setback I felt more like a complete failure. Like many others, I longed for a sense of direction, I wanted to give my life at least a little meaning. In tears and despair, sitting on my couch one evening, I found myself wondering, why am I even here, what is the purpose of my life? Dealing with chronic health issues, I asked in meditation, if pursuing a career is not possible for me, then tell me, what am I supposed to do with my life? The Divine The Universe has sent me answers through books about the ancient spiritual teachings from great teachers around the world. Reading those books gave me new hope, and over time I began to put the pieces of the puzzle together. Of course, my ego struggled with the fact that I could not build a great career or gather professional success to show off. But when you live through certain hardships and face chronic health issues, sooner or later you learn, somehow, to set your ego aside. As I gradually let go of my own limiting ideas about what should and must be the meaning and purpose of my life, a new world opened before me. I discovered that my true task, the real work to do, was not about outer success but about spiritual cultivation and walking the path of the Soul. It may sound simple, and I may not find the perfect words here, but of course the human ego is not very interested in anything it cannot use to show off or to gain other people’s praise and good reputation. The ego longs for fame, material success, recognition, and attention. So whenever I tried to focus on those spiritual teachings, especially in the beginning, my own ego would rebel and resist. It would argue with thoughts like, how does this help to pay the bills? and many other materialistic reasonings. While walking and living the spiritual path, we are always called to do our best. We strive to live a responsible, honest, and respectful life. We bring integrity into our daily tasks, into our work, into our communities, and into the society we are part of. All of this is both precious and essential. The practices, techniques, and teachings we discover on the spiritual path then become our stable ground, our source of strength, the place where we can recharge our energy, our mind, and our heart. These inner resources make daily life lighter to carry, and they bring balance and a deeper sense of contentment to our being. The more I learned and practiced the spiritual teachings and the steps of meditation, the more I began to feel an inner peace I had never imagined possible. With every step along this path, I discovered healing for old burdens and long-carried wounds. And so, I continued to study, to read, and to practice with devotion. Not only did I receive inner healing, but my body and health also improved greatly, and for the past few years I have not needed any kind of medicine. The teachings of forgiveness, letting go, and acceptance slowly unfolded within me as a deep sense of relief that touched my whole being. Connecting with Divine Oneness became my daily practice, and the cultivation described in the teachings of the spiritual path gently transformed my heart, deepened my understanding, and revealed to me the true meaning of my life. Real and lasting inner peace is found the more we are able to let go. The true goal of our journey in this life is to reestablish a profound alignment with our Divine Self and our Divine Source. This awakening is one of the key purposes of our lifetime. We are here for our higher Divine Self, that eternal part of us that has traveled through many lifetimes, gathering spiritual wisdom within Divine Consciousness along the way. This is our real task, the sacred work entrusted to us. The many desires of our ego often create stress. We feel pressured while trying to achieve them, we struggle to hold on to them once we have them, and then we worry about losing them again. It becomes a circle of suffering that repeats itself in so many ways. Yet, we can see with time that the things our ego longs for are rarely lasting, and often bring only temporary satisfaction. The belief that we will feel happier or more complete by fulfilling every desire is, in truth, a tender illusion. It is not a failure of ours, but simply the way the ego tries to protect us and to fill an inner void. But that void cannot be healed by what is fleeting in the material world. It can only be met by turning inward, toward something deeper and eternal, where real peace and lasting fulfillment are found. The only treasures that truly serve us beyond this lifetime are the spiritual treasures we cultivate here and now. These are the gifts that remain with us forever. The spiritual wisdom and divine consciousness we gather in this life are the richest treasures we can hold, for they illuminate our Soul’s path far beyond this world. The real meaning of our life, as well as lasting peace, can only be found on the spiritual level, in oneness with our Soul. Here we discover true peace of mind and the embrace of unconditional love. It is within this sacred space that the cravings and the struggles of the ego gently come to rest. I can only speak from my own experience, yet all the books I have studied and all the teachers I have met confirm the same truth: this path heals us on every level of our being. It fills the mind with peace and the heart with love, because it nourishes the Soul. There is no final “right or wrong” on this journey, for it is guided by the higher Divine Spirit. It is not a path we can study or fully grasp with the human intellect, but one we can only walk with an open heart, and learn through direct personal experience with our Soul. If you have questions about this path, I would be happy to meet you in a video call and share about your experiences. It is always a joy to connect with like-minded Souls. May your heart find peace, your Soul feel nourished, and your path be lit with gentle light.
